Since the end of the 20th century, Islamist terrorist attacks have been perpetrated by members of various organizations as part of the jihad they carry out around the world. The ambitions of terrorists change according to the country in which they operate. Their actions are, above all, part of a radicalization of the practice of Islam, in a geopolitical context marked by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the wars waged by the United States in the Middle East and Afghanistan, and the wars in Chechnya. In this context, Islamist terrorist attacks are either part of an attempt to destabilize a state in retaliation for its policy or values, or in an attempt to conquer its territory. Terrorists use various tactics, such as suicide bombings, bombings, chain killings, hijacking of planes or boats, kidnappings and assassinations. The first attacks took place before 1980 in Saudi Arabia: from 20 November to 3 December 1979, the Great Mosque of Mecca was taken by an armed group of terrorists. The total number of deaths and injuries following the assault by the security forces is 244 and more than 450 among the Saudi security forces.
Many of the violent terrorist attacks taking place, with the media in mind, target not only real victims but millions of shocked and distressed viewers around the world. Every attack perpetrated generates huge media coverage and controversy around the world. The media often appear guilty of perpetuating the terrorist phenomenon, offering it a platform without which it would have no reason to exist. By creating an atmosphere of anxiety and tension, terrorism uses the means of communication to encourage the mobilization of activists and public opinion. So the terrorists set up, the Amaq agency and look exactly like a traditional news agency, this method of claim was considered too slow and they set up to save time and secure its communication, Daesh is now asking all the attackers it has tasked to “directly assert their actions and provide evidence in the form of videos, photos or written tracks on their social networks”. For example, on Monday, June 13, 2016, an individual murdered a police officer and his campaign, at their home in Magnanville (Yvelines). He claimed responsibility for this action on behalf of Daesh, before being gunned down by law enforcement. The 25-year-old had posted photos of his victims on his Facebook profile along with a long 12-minute video message.

Interesting article. Interesting perspective that the media is used to accentuate the effects of terrorist acts, the idea that without these platforms they would have no reason to exist is controversial but also holds interest.
